Wayqey Lodge is a utopia resting within the Sacred Valley, making it a perfect stop on your journey to Machu Picchu…
The Sacred Valley is truly a gorgeous part of Peru, about an hour and a half from Cusco and Aguas Calientes, it is a great stop in between your Cusco to Machu Picchu journey and the Wayqey Lodge honestly felt like a sanctuary up in the valley with mountain views around and a very private and peaceful feel.
The Wayqey Lodge is log-cabin style with despite appearance actually three levels to each cabin, dining and lounge room, two family style bedrooms and an upstairs attic, able to sleep 6 in total very comfortably. If many of you have been reading my travels for some time you will know how much I love the self-service feel with full kitchen and home-away-from-home vibe. The Wayqey Lodge definitely had a homely feel and the ability to cook, relax and unwind for a lengthy stay if desired.
Like it’s brother hotel in Cusco, Wayqey Lodge is also quite new and albeit being a little hard to find at first was actually very close walking distance in to town, approximately 15 minutes of a walk and you will find yourself in the city centre of Urubumba as well as the long stretch of market shopping in the Sacred Valley.
Coming soon next door which I was lucky enough to have a sneak peek look at it, is Wayqey Resort & Country Club which will be available for guests of Wayqey Lodge to come and relax for the day. The team at Wayqey are currently inputting a bird sanctuary, swimming pool, bar and patio area for dancing and it has a beautiful pond and LOVE sign on the large grounds which I could see being a great wedding destination spot.
The Wayqey Lodge is vastly different from it’s brother city hotel, very relaxed and peaceful with a sanctuary vibe, the meaning of ‘Wayqey’ in Peru is brother and you can tell from the chain accommodation they are definitely creating similarities but vast differences to appeal to many different travelers, just like a brother being similar but still having their own unique personalities, the accommodation is very unique and holds it’s own unique feeling when staying there. As previously mentioned in my post on Wayqey Hotel, both are affiliated with Interval International time share company for those that travel through time share destinations!
The Wayqey Lodge is perfect for some time out surrounded by a beautiful valley, a local feel with great market shopping and being woken up with birds chirping and a lot of sunshine coming through, we definitely enjoyed our time out here and was perfect before continuing on our journey.
