WAKING UP IN WAYQEY HOTEL – CUSCO, PERU

It’s not a bad start to any day when you’re waking up in Cusco city of beautiful Peru in an equally beautiful hotel such as Wayqey Hotel!!

Upon first arriving at Wayqey Hotel, we were greeted with some traditional Peruvian coca tea and our bags were taken up to the room while we proceeded with the check-in process in the very appeasing hotel lobby, filled with bright Peruvian colours and informational booklets for things to do in the area.

The room itself was nice and large, facing the streets with views to the horizon of Cusco city. We stayed in the King Superior deluxe with a pull out sofa bed, although we all ended up in the King due to it’s huge size and comfortability!

The stand-in shower was so big you could practically lay down in it and all toiletries were re-stocked every day, even if we still had plenty there which was a nice touch!

Wayqey Hotel is a relatively new hotel, most hotels in Cusco are surrounding the Plaza de Armas, we were about a 22min walk from the Plaza de Armas however found out from taxi drivers that the streets become so narrow and cobble-stoned that taxi’s often drop guests a 15min walk away from their accommodation, so despite it being a longer walk in each day, I appreciated not having to haul luggage 15 minutes on cobble stones! BONUS TIP: Wayqey Hotel is also a member of Interval International for those associated with that time share company, so if you’re at a loss for your next time share, we’ve got you covered!

We ended up eating dinner at the hotel for room service two out of the three nights we stayed, the menu was very extensive, very reasonably priced and very fast and efficient! Not to mention tasty, they had quite a lot of western items too and some really nice peruvian dishes as well that you could try if you wanted to try something traditional in a trusted environment, which is a much safer bet then some street vendors.

The 7th floor where breakfast and cocktails were served had a beautiful view over Cusco city and was a very relaxing way to both start and end the day.

I would definitely recommend Wayqey Hotel for its accessibility, modern and new touches, efficient staff and reasonable prices.
