Arriving at Alas Petulu Cottages was like stepping into a little sneak-peak sized preview of Ubud. I really feel like they exude the forest jungle essence that is Ubud and captured it beautifully in a quiet and quaint cottage style oasis. It’s very much a family-owned and run accommodation choice; they live on site, which has great perks of being able to receive top notch assistance at any given time.
The service was amazing yet not in your face, the attendants at Alas Petulu Cottages are extremely helpful when you need assistance and are very pleasant to work with, however they will pretty much leave you to your relaxation and enjoying your holiday without any disturbance which was quite wonderful to just be able to have a few days of peaceful serenity amongst some crazy adventuring!
I really loved the friendly vibe, it was like staying with family, even the guests below me were super friendly yet not overboard. Everyone is literally just kicking back and relaxing, it’s so chill. My favourite THREE things (because I can’t choose just one) about Alas Petulu Cottages were:
- The double-decker pool with infinity and waterfall feature that overlooks a jungle abyss. Plus, props to the workers for encouraging us to jump from the top pool to the bottom…not sure if that was allowed though? Soooo…maybe don’t mention we did that 😉
- The location. It’s quite literally a 10minute walk to central Ubud market, Ubud Palace, about a 15minute walk to Monkey Forest AND just incase you don’t feel like walking or want to travel a little further out, there are an abundance of scooters for hire for a mere $6.00 USD a day. That’s right, a whoooole day, with fuel included. And helmets. And insurance. Yay!
3. The breakfast served on my balcony every morning. Not only was it amazing, but my order was always remembered, if I asked for breakfast at a specific time, they would always repeat back my previous mornings order – in full – and ask if I would like any changes. Perfecto!
I also really loved the beds, they were super soft and had those see-through curtains coming all around the 4-poster bedframe, like those princess beds! I felt so tropical and cozy, on my days off exploring I could quite literally enjoy laying in my little princess bed, loving on all the free wifi and being insanely comfortable with life. We even ordered in food one day for the mere fact we were too lazy and comfortable to go for the 5-10 minute walk to get some, now that’s comfort!
I would definitely recommend a stay at these cute cottages if you’re looking for that ideal location to everything in Ubud, really great prices, and STILL the peace and serenity you want on your holiday. I’m actually surprised they are still a hidden gem to be honest, they have everything you need and want for such a bargain. No complaints here, I would be back to Alas Petulu in a heartbeat! Thank you for such a wonderful stay!
